Apoquel® for dogs is an oral chewable tablet designed specifically for dogs to alleviate itch and inflammation associated with allergic dermatitis. Chewable Apoquel® acts directly at the source of irritation, addressing the underlying cause of allergic reactions. It provides rapid relief from allergic pruritus, with noticeable effects typically seen within 24 hours of administration. Contains oclacitinib for dogs. Whether for short-term or long-term treatment, Apoquel® Chewable offers relief with fewer side effects compared to alternative medications.
Active Ingredients: Oclacitinib

Storage: Apoquel® Chewable should be stored at controlled room temperature between 20° to 25° C (68° F to 77° F) with excursions between 15° to 40° C (59° F to 104° F).
Side Effects: Adverse events reported include vomiting, lethargy, anorexia, diarrhea, elevated liver enzymes, dermatitis (i.e. crusts, pododermatitis, pyoderma), seizures, polydipsia, and demodicosis.

Warnings: Apoquel® Chewable is not for use in dogs less than 12 months of age.

Apoquel® Chewable is not for use in dogs with serious infections.

Apoquel® Chewable may increase susceptibility to infection, including demodicosis, and exacerbation of neoplastic conditions. New neoplastic conditions (benign and malignant) were observed in dogs treated with oclacitinib film-coated tablets (FCT) during clinical studies and have been reported in the post-approval period. Consider the risks and benefits of treatment prior to initiating Apoquel® Chewable in dogs with a history of recurrent serious infections or recurrent demodicosis or neoplasia.

The use of Apoquel® Chewable has not been evaluated in combination with glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive agents.

Apoquel® Chewable is not for use in breeding dogs, or pregnant or lactating females.

Overdoses can be very dangerous. Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian.

If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.

This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

Disposal of Unused Prescription Medications

  1. Return unwanted or unused medications to Revival Animal Health in person, or visit www.disposemymeds.org to find a pharmacy near you.
  2. A secondary method of drug disposal is to remove the unwanted medication from any wrappers or containers and place it in a plastic bag with moist coffee grounds or cat litter. This can be disposed of in the regular garbage collection.
  3. Please do NOT dispose of unwanted meds down the drain or toilet, as this may eventually find its way into the human water supply.

Learn more about disposal of unused prescription medications here.

Disposal of Medical Sharps

  1. When you're finished with the syringe and needle, do not try to recap, remove, bend or break the needle. This is where most injuries occur.
  2. Dispose the syringe and needle immediately in a nearby sharps container. All sharps must be deposited in a puncture-proof container. Make sure your storage location is child and animal proof.
  3. As with all product handling, make sure you wash your hands after handling medical sharps.

Disposal of Sharps Container

  1. When your sharps container is half-full, sift dry Portland Cement throughout the sharps. Fill the container with water, and rotate until the cement is mixed and the sharps have been distributed throughout the cement mixture. Let cement dry for 24 hours.
  2. Seal the lid of the container tightly and use duct tape to seal. Label the container "Livestock Sharps" to properly identify the contents.
  3. Dispose of the containers in accordance with your state's regulations.

Our pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. − 4:30 p.m. CST.
