Toxicity:
Relatively safe when used as directed.
Side Effects:
Side effects are rare. With high dose, or prolonged use in dogs, staggering, rapid breathing, difficulty breathing, rapid heart rate and swelling of the limbs (edema) may be seen. Contact your veterinarian if you observe any of these effects in your pet.
Warnings:
Not for use in animals hypersensitive to penicillins or beta-lactam antibiotics such as cephalosporins.
Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.
Do not use in horses intended for human consumption.
Precautions:

Intramuscular injection in cattle, sheep, and swine may result in a local tissue reaction which persists beyond the withdrawal period of 14 days (cattle), 9 days (sheep), or 7 days (swine). This may result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter.
It is advisable to avoid giving penicillin in conjunction with bacteriostatic drugs such as tetracyclines.
Not for use in humans.
