TruFel HCP, also known as Feloguard Plus 3, is a vaccine that protects cats against three core health issues - feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia.

This vaccine is highly recommended and primarily used as a subcutaneous injection for cats 8 weeks of age or older. The product contains a modified live virus and no adjuvant.

Generally, this medication is given in two doses - one dose immediately and a second dose three to four weeks later. Annual injections are also encouraged.

Precautions When Administering TruFel HCP

Keep the following precautions in mind before administering Feloguard Plus 3:

  • This medication contains neomycin and polymyxin B as preservatives. Check for allergies before using it.
  • This vaccine should only be used on healthy pets. It's not recommended for pregnant females.
  • Store in a dark, cool place at 35 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit - make sure it doesn't freeze!
  • After administering, burn vaccine containers and any unused supplies.

Directions for Use: Aseptically rehydrate TruFel™ HCP with accompanying diluent. Shake well. Inject one 1 ml dose subcutaneously using aseptic technique. Administer a second dose in three to four weeks. Annual revaccination with one dose of TruFel™ HCP is recommended.

For vaccines requiring reconstitution, remove label from both vials and affix both labels to the animal's medical chart. 1.) Grasp the lower right-hand corner of the tab at the arrow marked "Peel Here" between your thumb and forefinger. 2.) Pull steadily at a slight upward angle until the top portion of the label is separated from the vial. 3.) Place the label on the animal's medical chart. Press down on the label to ensure adhesion.
