Beyond® Semen Extender is an equine semen extender that preserves stallion semen for up to 14 days at +5° C post collection. Timing is important at every step of artificial insemination (AI) in horses. Semen must be processed and shipped quickly, and insemination has to be perfectly synchronized with the mare's ovulation. The longer storage time decreases the number of shipments of insemination doses. The horse semen of so-called "poor coolers" (stallions that do not respond well to chilling and freezing) can be stored for up to 7 days at +17° C.

More than just being a storage medium, Beyond® contains many high-grade ingredients that maintain the fertility of the sperm. All components of this horse semen extender are purely synthetic, reducing the risk of uterine inflammation. Made with pharmaceutical grade ingredients and contains antibiotics and a fungicide. Beyond® is ready to use and added directly to the centrifuged semen pellet.

Cautions: Keep out of reach of children and animals. The product is not suitable for treatment or consumption by human beings or animals. Before using Beyond® extender, make sure that the extender shows the properties described under chapter 1., especially regarding its consistency and appearance. If the extender shows a different consistency or appearance as described or undissolved components are recognizable, it must not be used.Storage: Keep refrigerated

Instructions: How to extend with Beyond®:

  1. Collect stallion and dilute the gel-free ejaculate with a prewarmed milk-based extender with antibiotics to 50 million sperm per ml or 1:1 (We recommend EquiPlus with Amikacin & Penicillin (13570/0715) especially if using the +170C protocol)
  2. Incubate the pre-diluted sample ejaculate at room temperature for 10 to 30 minutes
  3. Centrifuge at 600g for 15 minutes (if centrifuging with a cushion, 1000g for 20 minutes)
  4. Completely remove the supernatant (the more milk-based extender left in sample may lessen the holding time)
  5. Resuspend the sperm with Beyond® (room temperature) to obtain breeding doses.
