Vetera® 5XP is a 5-way horse vaccine that helps horses build immunity and create antibodies against:
- Eastern encephalomyelitis (EEE): Whether horses spend a lot of time in barns or fields, they'll need protection to safeguard their health from diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. This vaccine helps avoid EEE conditions in horses, from neurological symptoms to brain and spinal cord issues.
- Western encephalomyelitis (WEE): When mosquitoes interact with infected birds, they may pick up the WEE virus. Our horse 5-way vaccine helps avoid mild to severe symptoms, from fever and drowsiness to disorientation, impaired vision or neurological damage.
- Herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1): Our 5-way vaccine helps safeguard against a highly contagious virus that spreads through horse-to-horse contact and contaminated equipment such as grooming supplies, feed and water buckets, and tack. If a horse isn't vaccinated, an infection may cause respiratory, neurological or reproductive issues - the virus tends to become dormant after a couple of weeks, although it can reactivate with stress or other illnesses.
- Herpesvirus type 4(EHV-4): You can use our equine vaccine to help protect foals, weanlings and yearlings from respiratory illnesses. EHV-4 is a common and contagious viral infection that can cause symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, coughing and nasal discharge. While most horses recover in a few weeks, the virus can last a lifetime.
- A2 equine influenza virus (EIV): Help safeguard a horse's well-being and performance with an equine shot that vaccinates against EIV. Similar to human influenza, this virus affecting horses may cause a cough, fever and nasal discharge - the illness spreads easily and requires supportive care for recovery.
With this 5-way equine shot, the duration of immunity against EIV OH/03 is at least 6 months. The duration for the remaining organisms has not been determined. This 5-way horse vaccine helps reduce or avoid shedding due to A2 EIV. This horse 5-way vaccine is ideal for healthy horses at least four months old and pregnant mares.
